I had one. It covered my broken front drive shaft, that I of course would never ever have broken doing something stupid, no questions asked.

Generally they avoid covering those(high performance models) in the fine print.

Some Doug Demuro guy loves his Carmax warranty for his Range Rover. I don’t know why you would need a warranty considering Mercedes V12s are the pinnacle of engineering reliabilty...

I had one for my 99 XJ when I bought it in 01. I had a good experience, & over a beer I could tell you more.
Paid for its self.

You know what’s even more reliable? Mercedes diesel engines. Taxi driver in Greece set a Guinness world record by putting 2.8 million miles on his Mercedes 240D. There’s also numerous reports of diesel Mercedes reaching 1 million miles.

Don’t buy a V12 Mercedes without some kind of warranty. I have a service contact on my R500. One or two things and its paid for. Get the highest level they offer. Different companies provide different levels of service at different prices. Ask the service writers at a Mercedes dealer which companies they’ve had the best experience with. Make sure it covers hydraulic struts. They typically have some verbiage that says only the listed items are covered.

Not much experience other than horror stories about warranty companies not covering stuff, or certain repair shops, or requiring substandard parts. Then of course living vicariously through Doug DeMuro and my brother who both bought CarMax-covered SUVs and apparently loved the experience.
